King Center Imaging Project Nearing Ending of Major Phase

Website and Digital Archive now online

Atlanta, GA (March 27, 2012) The King Center Imaging Project, an initiative of JPMorgan Chase, will end a large phase of work April 27, 2012, and many of our project participants are eager to continue utilizing their new acquired skills in other projects. This project succeeded in developing a groundbreaking new digital archive, which is now located on a newly redesigned website for the Dr. Martin Luther King Center in Atlanta (www.thekingcenter.org/archive). As part of the project, JPMorgan Chase, along with experts in the image digitization and indexing fields, employed an enthusiastic group comprised largely of trained college students and military veterans. These highly trained and highly motivated project participants are now available to assist anyone in the archival community who may be considering their own digitization and document indexing initiatives.

Program participants are well versed in all aspects of archival digitization, including historical document curation, capturing high resolution images, high volume content management, and thoroughly indexing archival collections before they are uploaded to the King Center
website. Project participants have honed these skills using cutting edge digitization technology, including Hasselblad digital cameras, Phocus imaging software, Metamorfoze-based objective capture and process control protocols, and Alfresco/Drupal Cloud-based digital content management platforms. These trained program participants, armed with their acquired skills and a deep passion for their work, are wrapping up a major phase of the King Center Imaging Project and are now available to take the next step and move on to other projects.
