We've finished the review of program proposals for MW2007, and acceptances are going out this week.

The Program Committee reviewed all proposals, and made their comments and recommendations. Then we (as Conference Co-Chairs) reviewed the committee's comments, consulted with the committee where necessary, and put together a program structure that reflected the issues and themes represented in the proposals. We then respond to each successful proposal, offering a place in a session in the program. it's getting more and more challenging to make these decisions. The quality of proposals is very high, and the overall level of discussion keeps improving.

As always, themes emerged from the range of proposals; this year, we could have predicted Web 2.0. But the cluster of very strong audience-focused evaluation papers was a pleasant surprise, as were the group of issue-focused Professional Forum proposals. Apparently, there's lots to think and talk about, and we're looking forward to a very strong meeting in San Francisco.

We hope to have the full Preliminary Program on the conference Web site by the end of November, if not before. Workshops have already been announced. Other dates to keep in mind: early registration closes December 15, 2006, and Best of the Web nominations are open through January 7, 2007.
