About the International Museum of Women:
The International Museum of Women (IMOW) uses art and multi-media to inspire, activate and connect global audiences around contemporary issues of women's human rights. As a global and completely "virtual" museum, IMOW presents its exhibitions online in multiple languages and stages events and installations in worldwide locations. The offices of the International Museum of Women are in San Francisco, where the museum team works with a dispersed global community of partners, curators, artists and thinkers. In the past year, over 600,000 women and men from over 200 countries have visited our online exhibitions.
About the Global Motherhood/Maternal Health Project:
The International Museum of Women's next online exhibition will focus on the theme of Global Motherhood. The exhibition will celebrate motherhood and explore how it intersects with critical global human rights issues, from poverty and economic empowerment to dignity and health. IMOW recognizes that educated and economically empowered mothers are key to healthy families and communities, and will explore in depth how the world values and supports our mothers. The Global Motherhood Exhibition will ask what is new and different about the global experiences of mothers and daughters. It will showcase women's art, stories and creativity, celebrate women's accomplishments and present opportunities for change and women-led solutions. A key focus of the exhibition will be Maternal Health. Over 500,000 women and girls continue to die in pregnancy and childbirth each year, and the majority of them live in the world's poorest communities and countries. The Global Motherhood Exhibition will use women's creative self-expression and viral content to catalyze engagement in this vital human rights issue. The online exhibition is schedule to launch in fall 2011 and will run for approximately eight months.
About the Project Team:
The Producer will be an integral part of the project team, working closely with IMOW staff, volunteers, advisory and board committees; subject matter experts; partner organizations and consultants. The Producer will report to the Vice President, Exhibitions and Programs.
