I'm a pretty-good clawhammer banjo player, and I'm coming by train. So I could fit in my travel banjo if there was someone with a fiddle or other instrument who would like to get together. Last fall I was at the Oral History Association convention (my first time) and got to play with the out-going and in-coming presidents (mandolin & fiddle respectively). It turns out they have a tradition of getting together for a music session.

I have a friend who is a great banjo player, but also played french horn in his youth. A while back he did a 2-track recording of himself doing the Hunting Chorus from "Der Freischuetz" on FH and clawhammer banjo.

But, I think given the response I won't bother to carry my banjo along with me.

Well I'm bringing my french horn.   But I'm a myopically trained classical musician who can't do much of anything by ear  :>(
