US Phones in Canada

So I've done some work on figuring out what's the best way to keep in touch while I'm in Montreal. I'm attaching my research below, and feel free to add comments to this post about your own carriers.

I'm travelling with my US iPhone from the AT&T network. I've attached a table below from their site.

The upshot is that I'll probably rely on e-mail over wifi for most things and send text messages when I need to. Incoming texts have no additional surcharge. Outgoing texts will cost $0.50. When I want to call home, I'll probably e-mail an sms to my wife's phone using phonenumber@txt.att.net and we'll log into skype.

For coordinating evening plans with other attendees, we may go old school, or people can email an sms to my phone. I suppose we could plan like in the days before everyone had a phone. Not like I know how that was.

Eh, I'm probably overthinking this and will just use the phone like I normally do and have a big bill this month.
