1. I first heard about M&W from a colleague, well ... my boss.
2. I received permission after asking to go for the last three years
3.
I have visited the website several times, where I obtained forms,
followed discussions, and read program descriptions and logistical info.
4. I didn't participate in online activities during MW2009 because I was too busy, but I will now -- twitter, flickr, archimuse.
I read the twitter fall when it was projected and a few sessions
included wiki updates and twitter feedback. I thought these uses were generally
great and would participate during future conferences.
5. My expectations were met and exceeded.

  • I got the most out of the Unconference Session, the Birds of a Feather breakfast, and the Closing Plenary. Their open structure led to rapid discussion of ideas.
  • The
Opening Plenary (Max's talk) and Demonstrations were excellent, but I
thought both could have been expanded for more group discussion.
Demonstrations especially were rushed and could have been much more
    valuable.
  • Regular Sessions, Crit Room, and Usability Lab
were all good topics, but maybe the format could include less
speechifying and require more group processing
  • The Exhibits
provided a narrow range of vendors. If that's all that will come,
maybe they could be included with Demonstrations so there's more time
    overall.
  • Mini-Workshops were uneven, some great, some were not workshops at all.
