Abstract

The Discovery Point prototype allows art museum visitors to hear stories about works of art without burdening them with lenghthy commentary. It is simple and compact: it has only four buttons and can be worn around the neck. The device is a nearly invisible addition to the museum experience, but one that fills the need to deliver the right amount of information to visitors. To develop this concept we observed and interviewed visitors, constructed a prototype, and then evaluated the prototype through two rounds of user testing.
