We're on the hunt for a Drupal partner who can build sites and provide all the supporting services (hosting and maintenance etc). We'd rather go with a medium to large provider.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks

Re: Free Use of Museum Images
June 11, 2013 - 1:27amColin
Not sure if I've missed some of the debate around this but here goes....
Can you clarify what you mean?
What sort of size images are you looking at?
What do you mean by download?
Our Black Country History website provides access to over 35,000 images with a CC by nc licence. By access I mean users are free to save images using the functionality of their browser, there is no download this image link. Also the images are only 600 pixels wide so we aren't talking about high resolution images. [...]

June 10, 2013 - 12:50pmI wanted to pick up on Colin's question on Friday and the replies from
Jeremy and David surrounding what museums are offering in terms of
free high resolution image downloads.
Moving beyond free access to images for non-commercial use, does anybody
know of any notable examples of institutions in the UK offering free use of
images under a more open CC BY license in the way we are starting to see
emerging in the US? [...]

Social media output coordinatinated by an interdepartmental team. Any examples
June 10, 2013 - 9:35amHi Mark,
Here at IWM, social media is coordinated by many people across departments, with the Digital Media department at the helm.
We use a Basecamp Writeboard for our content plans. Various members from our Marketing, Retail, Collections and Learning teams have access to the Writeboard and can go in and update it. We generally try to plan at least 2-3 months ahead, giving ample lead time for things that we know will be big topics of conversation on social media (e.g. D-Day), fleshing out those plans along the way. SV: Social media output coordinatinated by an interdepartmental team. Any examples?
June 10, 2013 - 7:04amHi,
This is a Scandinavian example:
At the Nordiska museet in Stockholm, Sweden, we have an interdepartmental team since January 2012. It is made up of people from Marketing, New media (me), Collections (Archives and Library) and Education.

Re: Social media output coordinatinated by an interdepartmental team. Any examples?
June 10, 2013 - 6:49amHi Mark
RAMM is a local authority museum and only six of us can view social media which makes coordination a challenge!
The two of us who contribute to social media are in the content and collections team. The museums manager, marketing manager, publicity assistant and designer have access to social media too. [...]

Has anyone got experience or examples of a museum's social media output being coordinated by an interdepartmental team (comprised of staff from PR, collections, exhibitions, education etc.)?
I'm interested in hearing about any experiences and examples, including successes and failures, pros and cons.

How many of these are digital reproductions of artworks which are
themselves out of copyright?

How technology benefits learning
June 8, 2013 - 9:36amHello, I am currently doing a masters in museum studies and this seems to be a great place to find out information. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of information that shows the importance of technology in museum learning with particular focus on young children and young adults. Any help would be extremely grateful.

Reflections on the creation, examination and dissemination of arts organisations’ archives.
