Aaron Kline is a software developer for the Online Engagement Group at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. He draws on a broad expertise in software and systems development to create online exhibits as well as systems to support the Exploratorium's educator communities around the world. His varied background includes experience in the non-profit, government and private sectors. As a member of the NASA Ames Intelligent Mechanisms Group, he transformed Mars rover telemetry into 3D virtual reality representations of the rover's surroundings, allowing scientists to identify possible areas of interest, and in turn allowing mission controllers to path plan and control the rover remotely. In the process, he earned multiple NASA Ames group awards for involvement in the Mars Pathfinder mission as well as robotic field tests thereafter. He has also developed systems to track and analyze the voting patterns of members of Congress, and built Webby award winning sites for FedEx and other companies, localized for 180 countries and 15 languages. Aaron is drawn to the intersection of art, science and technology, and enjoys applying his technical skills to enhance this combination, and create interactive, engaging experiences for museum visitors.
