Dr Fiona Cameron is the Research Fellow, Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies at the Centre for Cultural Research, University of Western Sydney, Australia. Fiona has an international reputation in the field of museum studies. Her research interests focus on the idea of the museum and interrelationships between institutions and contemporary societies, with projects located in two fields. The first examines the roles and agency of the museum sector in contemporary societies in engaging contentious subjects and on topics of global significance such as climate change in a globalising world. The second investigates digital technologies and museum collections. Fiona has been successful in gaining seven large research grants on these themes. Major publications include five book chapters, numerous articles in refereed journals and a co-edited collection, Theorizing Digital Cultural Heritage: a critical discourse with MIT Press, 2007. Fiona taught Museum Studies at the University of Sydney and has worked as a practitioner in the sector as a director, a social history curator and as a curatorial consultant on major exhibition projects in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Vanuatu.
